Inaugural Flight

Commercial air service to Hawaii was inaugurated on April 20, 1935 with the arrival of Pan American Airways Clipper ship Pioneer Clipper at Pearl Harbor. Capt. Edwin C. Musick steps aground after piloting the plane on its epochal 18-hour flight from California.

Capt. Edwin C. Musick, skipper of the Pan American Clipper receives a lei upon arrival in Honolulu April 20, 1935. His plane carried the first air mail to arrive in Hawaii.
