PUBLIC VIEWING OF HISTORIC SOLAR PLANE SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, JULY 5

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) is pleased to announce a public viewing of the Solar Impulse 2 at Kalaeloa Airport this Sunday, July 5, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Those interested in viewing the aircraft can go to Hangar 111 at Kalaeloa Airport.  A security guard will allow access on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Solar Impulse plane is powered by the sun and is currently flying around the world without a drop of fuel.  It is currently en route from Japan to Hawaii with an anticipated arrival on July 3.  The general public will not be allowed inside the airport premises during the landing.
