Flight Attendants Confirms New Contracts For Hawaiian Airlines

On April 3, 2020, the Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants , represented by Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), voted to approve a new contract. The agreement guarantees pay stability, provides an immediate wage increase, and ensures healthcare costs for more than 2,100 Flight Attendants remain manageable for the next five years.

In a letter to its members, the AFA Hawaiian Leadership stated: “This agreement puts us in a much better position than where we were as we face these uncertain times. Hawaiian Flight Attendants’ efforts, actions, and spirit translated into strength at the bargaining table, pushing us toward an agreement. Now is the time to look forward and work together to make that happen.”

For the past nine months, Flight Attendants have been actively protesting in Honolulu, Los Angeles, and surrounding islands to push negotiations forward. In February, AFA-CWA President Sara Nelson traveled to Honolulu, urging management to finalize the long-overdue agreement. Earlier, in November 2019, Flight Attendants overwhelmingly voted 99.9% in favor to authorize a strike, marking the highest strike authorization support in AFA’s history.
