Hawaiian Airlines Announces to Resume Flights back to the Mainland

On July 1, Hawaiian Airlines announced plans to resume a limited flight schedule connecting Hawai‘i with most of its U.S. mainland gateway cities beginning August 1. This aligns with the state’s decision to welcome travelers who participate in a developing pre-travel COVID-19 testing program. Additionally, the airline will expand interisland service to enhance connectivity for passengers traveling between O‘ahu, Kaua‘i, Maui, and the Island of Hawai‘i.

Hawaiian Airlines initially reduced its operations in late March due to the pandemic and the state’s quarantine mandate for arriving passengers. Since then, the airline has maintained a limited neighbor island network along with daily flights between Honolulu and Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco to support essential travel and cargo transportation.
On this day, the carrier will introduce a daily service between Honolulu and Portland. Additionally, once-daily flights to San Diego and Sacramento will commence on July 15.

As Hawai‘i lifts its quarantine requirement for travelers who test negative for COVID-19 before departure on August 1, Hawaiian Airlines will reinstate nonstop service from six U.S. mainland cities to Honolulu, including Boston, New York, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Jose, and Oakland.

Additionally, the airline will resume select West Coast-to-neighbor island routes using its narrow-body Airbus A321neo aircraft. These routes will include flights from Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento to Kahului, Maui; Los Angeles and Oakland to Līhuʻe, Kaua‘i; and Los Angeles to Kona on the Island of Hawai‘i.
